David earned his Ph.D. in solid state materials chemistry from NCSU in 2011, specializing in solar-hydrogen renewable energy sources. He is trained in professional renewable energy and business management from the NC Clean Energy Technology Center.  He received his B.S. in Chemistry and Physics from Hampden-Sydney College.

Banerji is currently a consultant for Texas-based Schlumberger, the world’s leading supplier of technology, integrated project management and information solutions to customers working in the oil and gas industries.

They are currently developing a precision agriculture technology which aims to solve the nations dying honey bee crisis. Nate also works with AgWorx Inc., a company which supplies precision agriculture products and services throughout NC. Eager to learn how patented products are used to build and sustain businesses, she accepted a position at the Division of Research and Economic Development at North Carolina Central University to assist with expanding the university’s patent portfolio and developing spin out companies based on the research efforts of the university’s faculty, staff and affiliates.

Sumit Sharan is a first-year MBA student at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Before joining Fuqua, Sumit spent three years starting his own company in India in the solar energy sector. During this time he gained an understanding of the solar energy industry and is a big supporter of grassroots initiatives that help millions of people living in the dark in India.

Sumit holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management from Singapore Management University. He also spent one year at Standard Chartered Bank within their strategic Trade Finance team, assisting them on several projects at the time of the financial crisis in 2009.

Post Fuqua, Sumit plans to spend some time with a high-growth startup in the Bay area and is also currently working on his next venture. Outside of work, Sumit writes a food blog (Belly Centric) with a couple of friends, likes long hikes and walking over to the nearest film festival.
